Is Anyone The Same Weight As Their Driver's License ?

Before I get started, I want you to do something for me. Go get your wallet and find your driver's license. How many years has it been since that picture was taken ? Do you like your picture ?  And most of all, are you anywhere close to the same weight as your license claims you are ?

Well, my license says I am 5'4" and I weight 185 lbs. and nothing could be further from the truth.  Because we don't have to get our licenses replaced but once every 10 years. So 10 years ago, in 2002, I was or at least I put that I was 185 lbs. I actually don't mind the picture taken. I look young and vibrant - and every time people look at it I wonder if anyone thinks, " There is no way she weighs 185 lbs..."   OR that could be the story I tell myself.

So why am I telling you all this ??  

Because this week, I will be updating my driver's license, adding a new picture and changing my weight to match my current weight. For the first time in many years, I will weigh what my license says. Now I am not at all excited to increase the current weight I have and in some ways, I have some shame about it.  But I am excited to be congruent with my present truth and that makes me feel great!  I weigh 217 lbs and my license will reflect this truth.  I find it curious that my renewal happened at this transformative time in my life. It's almost like giving myself a new slate in all ways, right down to my license.

So dear friends, the next time your license is due for a renewal, I would suggest that you consider being truthful about who you are. Because you will look at your license hundreds of times, you have the opportunity  to be reminded of the message ," To thine own self be true".
